| Object: | This open cluster, in the constellation of Scutum, is about 23 l.y. across and has around 2900 member stars. It is considered one of the richest and most compact galactic clusters. Its position in one of the most dense star fields in the sky makes it lovely telescopic object even though it is quite low down in the sky from UK latitudes. The image shows some of the dark nebulae in the area. | |
